refund policy

Artistic Academy of Hair Design’s refund policy applies to all terminations for any reason, by either party, including student decision, dismissal due to policy violations, course or program cancellation, or school closure. All refund calculations are preformed and refunds are made timely.

An application not accepted by the school (prior to beginning school) shall be entitled to a refund of all monies paid.

If a student (or in the case of a student under legal age, his/her parent/guardian) cancels his/her enrollment in writing within 3 business days of signing the enrollment agreement/contract, all monies collected by the school shall be refunded. The cancellation date will be determined by the postmark on written notification, or the date said information is delivered to the school administrator in person. This policy applies regardless of whether or not the student has actually started training.

If a student cancels his/her (cosmetology, aesthetics, student teaching) enrollment after three business days of signing but prior to entering classes, he/she shall be entitled to a refund of all monies paid to the school less the registration fee of $100.00 which is non-refundable.

Pursuant to the Federal Regulations of the Higher Education Act, Return of Title IV Funds, the school must calculate the amount of Title IV funds the student has earned at the time of withdrawal or termination from the school. This amount is based upon the length of time the student is scheduled to complete in the payment period. After 60% of the payment period has been completed, 100% of the Title IV funds may be retained. The school must return any portion of unearned Title IV funds for which the school is responsible for.

Enrollment time is defined as the time elapsed between the actual starting date to which the student formally terminates enrollment. Termination shall occur upon the student’s last day of physical attendance in school.

If a student withdraws or terminates prior to completing the course, the student will be charged an additional fee of $150.00 for administrative costs.

Any refund due to the student will be paid within 30 days of written cancellation or termination.

If a student withdraws or discontinues before completion of the course, the charge of the student kit, equipment, tools, text books, instructional materials, taxes, overtime fees, (if student surpasses their graduation date and has incurred overtime fees), will remain in addition to tuition retained by the school.

The official transcript or certificate of completion is to be held until all fees and charges have been met.

If a course is cancelled, subsequent to a student’s enrollment, the school shall, at its option:

  1. Provide a full refund of all monies paid, or
  2. Provide completion of the course

If the school is permanently closed or no longer offering instruction after students have enrolled, and instruction has begun, the student shall be entitled to a pro-rata refund of tuition.

Any student absent for fourteen consecutive calendar days will be terminated. The date of termination will be the students fourteenth day of absenteeism. Students are required to notify the school on each day of absenteeism via telephone call at (973) 656-1401.

Any student who does not return from their Leave of Absence will be terminated using the student’s last day of attendance as the termination date. Any student on an approved Leave of Absence who notifies the school that they will not be returning the withdrawal date will be the date the student notifies the institution.
